SONGS OF THE SPIRIT CIRCUS!
I think this was the most fun assignment I have given myself in years! Each year the 4th graders at Plymouth Meeting Friends School put on a circus in March. As parents of these fourth graders, we are asked to help out either with set design, publicity, food, or what ever is needed. I decided that it would be fun to visit circus practice once to shoot a bit and give the images to those who needed them for publicity. This one visit turned in to five, which then turned into a slideshow, a 9X12 hardcover book and then finally 16X20 black and white portraits of each child to hang in the lobby so that guests can see the stars of the show! Kids are great, in their excitement, innocence and complete comfort in front of the camera, and I was reminded of that as I edited the shoot. I don’t generally make portraits of kids, but I just may start.

I am pleased to be counted among the group of artist who are showing their figurative work in the show In My Body: Reworks. The show features 5 of my non-silve gum bichromate pieces. Nude #1 is of my daughter Riley, floating in a swimming pool. As many of you know, in addition to my commercial and wedding business, I teach non-silver photography at The University of The Arts and at Pennsylvania College of Art and Design. It’s been a while since I have shown my work so I am very excited to be a part of First Friday once again. Stop on by if you can! If you can’t, the show will be up until March 19 and there will be a semi-closing reception on First Friday March 4, 5pm-7pm. Gallery hours Tuesday-Saturday 12-6.
ELIZABETH EDWARDS

One of the wonderful things about being a photographer is that I am able to photograph many amazing people. I was lucky to spend 4 hours with Elizabeth Edwards in 2009 when she spoke to a group of breast cancer survivors at a Living Beyond Breast Cancer conference. LBBC has been a wonderful client of mine and my work with them has allowed me into the lives of many cancer survivors. I was saddened yesterday to learn that Elizabeth had passed away. I was warmed to know that I was able to spend time with her and make some wonderful images. Each person I photograph, no matter how famous or not, touches me and informs my life experience. This is one of the most cherished gifts about being a people photographer.
JOHN STANGO – URBAN POP ARTIST
Even though this blog is wedding focused, from time to time I will highlight some of my corporate or fine art work, to keep my followers informed about what else I am working on. Recently, I had the great privilege to photograph Urban Pop Artist John Stango‘s paintings for his new website. His colorful pallatte and large scale paintings were a nice alternative to photographing people, especially during the winter months when the wedding season is slower. John’s work appears in public and private collections including those of Jessica Simpson, Sylvester Stallone, Nicole Miller, and Governor Ed Rendell. Aside from loving the art, John and Mimi, his rep, are great people to work with!! Visit his site to see more of his work as well as mine.

We had fun doing some alternative style portraits of John as he became part of his painting of Marilyn Monroe.
