RECENT WORKS BY LAURIE BECK PETERSON

It has been 3 years since my last show at High Point. I can’t believe it! This new body of work has many of the familiar qualities from previous work, however I decided to experiment with smaller images and even worked with some abstract images that have lived on my cell phone for years. These smaller, more intimate pieces are printed on vellum in platinum and gold leafed. Included in the show are 4 larger pieces shot with my trusty old Holga and printed in palladium and cyanotype. Please stop by the opening on Saturday December 3, 2011 from 4pm – 6pm for some art, holiday cheer, and to say hi! The show runs from December 1, 2011-January 31, 2012 at High Point, Carpenter Lane and Greene Street, Philadelphia, PA 19119.

The Painted Bride

I am pleased to be counted among the group of artist who are showing their figurative work in the show In My Body: Reworks. The show features 5 of my non-silve gum bichromate pieces. Nude #1 is of my daughter Riley, floating in a swimming pool. As many of you know, in addition to my commercial and wedding business, I teach non-silver photography at The University of The Arts and at Pennsylvania College of Art and Design. It’s been a while since I have shown my work so I am very excited to be a part of First Friday once again. Stop on by if you can! If you can’t, the show will be up until March 19 and there will be a semi-closing reception on First Friday March 4, 5pm-7pm. Gallery hours Tuesday-Saturday 12-6.
Canandaigua Lake
I just returned from vacation in the Finger Lakes , near Rochester where I grew up and since I am sweating like crazy today in this heat, I thought I would remind myself of how wonderful it was to be in Canandaigua Lake last week. I shot this image of my kids with their friends, using my favorite pinhole camera, which I made from a post card box a fellow photographer gave to me. The camera travels with me and has been to England, France, Canada and the west coast. This image hung in a gallery in Soho NYC and will be part of a multi media presentation this weekend. And yes, I have even shot a wedding in pinhole!
