Even though this blog is wedding focused, from time to time I will highlight some of my corporate or fine art work, to keep my followers informed about what else I am working on. Recently, I had the great privilege to photograph Urban Pop Artist John Stango‘s paintings for his new website. His colorful pallatte and large scale paintings were a nice alternative to photographing people, especially during the winter months when the wedding season is slower. John’s work appears in public and private collections including those of Jessica Simpson, Sylvester Stallone, Nicole Miller, and Governor Ed Rendell. Aside from loving the art, John and Mimi, his rep, are great people to work with!! Visit his site to see more of his work as well as mine.
We had fun doing some alternative style portraits of John as he became part of his painting of Marilyn Monroe.
Sheila and David were married in the same church Sheila’s parents were married in and held their reception at the beautiful Cosmos Club in Washington DC. Their special request of me as their photographer was to focus on the guests! There was little to no photography during the ceremony and they wanted to enjoy the cocktail reception. So, we held an abbreviated formal photo session right before dinner. Sheila’s mom Susan sent me an email right after the wedding to say “the way in which you organized us and ran through the formal photos was quite remarkable!….with grace, humor and super efficiency.” She also went on to comment on our sleek black attire and my balletic movements while photographing. Funny thing is, my first love was ballet and until I gave it up to go into photography, I was studying in NYC to become a ballerina! Even though our focus was on the guests, I was still able to get some wonderful moments of Sheila and David.
Heath Allen’s band also traveled from Philadelphia to DC for the wedding and provided some wonderful music to dance to.
Enjoy the slideshow below. The toasts were quite humorous as you can tell from the guests laughter and I enjoyed hearing about Sheila’s career as an FBI agent and David’s athletic abilities!
